Current Employment Opportunities

Drafting/ Civil & Structural CAD Technician. 

Drafting/CAD Technicians work directly with our engineers and designers to generate new drawings, revise existing drawings and preparing drawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. This position successfully plots drawings; learns and follows company and client drafting standards and procedures; learns the practices of a selected discipline. Other duties as assigned, intermittent field work consisting of surveying assistance, construction observation, and concrete testing.  Interest/experience in piloting drones/aerial mapping a plus.

Projects will include bridges, streets/roads, sidewalks, water systems, waste water systems, structures, site development, and other special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in CAD or related program strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma.
  • Mastery of basic commands of AutoCAD and the ability to operate Autodesk Civil 3D or similar platform.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

Desired CAD skill set includes the ability to: 

  • Generate surfaces using survey field data and/or lidar data
  • Generate profiles of existing ground
  • Generate alignments for new facilities
  • Generate typical cross sections and surfaces for new work
  • Prepare plan sheets using multiple view ports on company template using company drafting standards.

Other Required Skill Sets:

  • Calculate quantities – lengths, areas, volumes

 

Project Engineer

Project Engineers work directly with our project managers, other engineers, CAD designers, and administrative staff in the preparation of reports, plans, and specifications.  The position includes performing hand calculations , use of various structural and civil design software, spreadsheets, etc., to support design decisions.   A strong technical background,  excellent communication skills, a professional appearance, and good work ethic is required.  An understanding of the various funding sources for rural infrastructure projects is desired but not required.

Projects will include bridges, streets/roads, sidewalks, water systems, waste water systems, structures, site development, and other special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Missouri is desired.
  • Registration as an Engineering Intern with plans to take and pass the P.E. Exam is acceptable.
  • Familiarity of basic commands of AutoCAD and the ability to operate Autodesk Civil 3D or similar platform is desired.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

A project engineer is expected to support the following tasks & activities;

Construction Contract Administration

  • Review materials information and compare to project specs
  • Review shop drawings for conformity/compatibility with plans
  • Monitor diary entries for proper content and consistency
  • Coordinate review of payroll reports
  • Project progress reports to MoDOT and clients. Monthly/Weekly
  • Monitor project progress and maintain schedule
  • Coordinate/prepare/track construction phase reporting
  • Administer/coordinate closeout

Design

Use hand calculations, software, spreadsheets to

  • Size water mains, and force-main sewers
  • Size stormwater inlets and piping
  • Size detention ponds and outlet structures
  • Open channels analysis
  • Size circular, box and arch culverts
  • Model bridge openings – open channel hydraulics
  • Size retaining wall footings, walls, reinforcement
  • Size steel girders, load ratings
  • Size pre-stressed girders and strand arrangement
  • Develop and review bill of reinforcing steel on various projects
  • Size individual structural components (columns/footings etc.) 

Assemble Technical Specifications for Projects

  • APWA
  • MoDOT
  • Master Spec.
  • Lead/oversee the assembly and prep of contract documents
  • MoDOT boilerplate
  • EJCDC
  • Lead/manage preparation of reports, plans, specs

Drafting/Production

  • Prepare detail sheets based on provided sketches & direction using CAD
  • Revise detail sheets based on mark-ups and direction using CAD
  • Prepare detail sheets without guidance using CAD
  • Estimate final project quantities and prepare cost estimates
  • Review project plans for accuracy, consistency, and completion
